For brown hair/beard from gray hair use with indigo in correct proportions. In a one-step process Henna and indigo combined can create light brown (70% henna 30% indigo), medium (50% each) and dark brown hair color (70% indigo 30% henna). The more henna the lighter the colour towards red, the more indigo, the darker the colour towards dark brown/nearly black (90% indigo 10% henna)
For black hair/beard from gray it is a two-step process only, henna applied first for 2 hours or more, wash out, indigo applied second. You will not achieve black hair in a one-step process. Jet black hair is achieved by the length of time indigo is left on hair, usually 2 hours
Raw pure henna gives an orange-red, auburn or copper hair color depending on existing hair color. Over time frequent use of henna on henna will give red hair color. Will enhance the color of black hair with eventual red glow
